*Grade 10 consideration:
AMBA and CMBA will allow a grade 10 player (who has made their high school team) to continue playing with our organization; ASAA DOES permit participation in BOTH Community AND Junior Varsity programs but NOT in Senior Varsity - please contact your school For details see ASAA Bylaws & Policy. |
As well, grade 10 players should assess whether they are able to provide the time and commitment required to play for both teams. If a grade 10 player must leave AMBA due to making their high school team a refund is not provided. If a team must fold, due to not having enough remaining players, those players that did not elect to leave AMBA will be provided with a pro-rated refund. Please see our Refund policy for details.
U18 Programs are broken into 2 Fall and Winter Seasons as many SV players join High school programs for Winter. CMBA has added the option of Platinum League (Male) and Diamond League (Female) team for 2024/2025 which is club style play with full FIBA rules - Mens Teams will determine their elligibility for these leagues during evaluations. Women may register via CMBA - https://www.cmba.ab.ca/content/Diamond-League-Information
Team Formation:
Teams are created based on the skill level of the player, using evaluation information. The AMBA team formation committee has the best interests of the individual player and teams as a whole when placing players. We will not accept requests to play on a specific team as each player is placed where they will have the most opportunity to learn and grow, while seeing as much court time as possible.
The intention is to place teams of similar skill level together to create a fun and competitive season. It’s important that players and parents do not focus on the division level they are placed at.
